The 25th Annual Historic Irvington Home Tour for 2007 and the Architectural Heritage Center presented two illustrated lectures by noted author and Bungalow Style expert Paul Duchscherer, based on his two most recent books.
The Bungalow, and its larger siblings the Craftsman and 4-Square Styles, are found throughout Irvington in large numbers. In fact, when noted author, Bungalow expert, and HGTV Curb Appeal designer Paul Duchscherer went in search of great examples to photograph for his most recent two books, he came here to Irvington.  His lectures were each based on one of those books.

	Lecture #1 - Beyond the Bungalow: Grand Homes in the Arts & Crafts Tradition So your house is a Colonial Revival, a 4-Square, Old Portland, or one of many that is certainly NOT a Bungalow... not to worry, chances are the Craftsman Style found in Bungalows also influenced the design of your home's interior. Attendees learned about how houses different from (and larger than) the Bungalow were influenced by this early 20th Century style
	Lecture #2 - Along Bungalow Lines: Creating an Arts & Crafts Home Paul provided inspiration for old-house owners seeking to preserve the charm and character of their homes while maintaining modern practicality Guests saw how the lessons of the past can make even our newer homes more inviting (and see still more great home interiors -- including more homes in Irvington and around Portland)
