From The Oregonian, July 17, 1910:

“Expense Will Not Be Spared in Beautiful House in Irvington

Andrew Porter, of the firm of Porter Brothers, railroad contractors, has bought through Chapin & Herlow three lots in the John Irving addition, Nos. 12. 13. And 14, in Block 18 for $9000, and has commissioned C.C. Robbins to prepare plans for a home.

These lots are on Tillamook Street between Twenty-first and Twenty-second, in the part of Irvington where some of the most beautiful homes in the city are situated. Mr. Porter’s home, it is said, will be one of the handsomest ever designed for Portland. The lowest limit of the cost is placed at $50,000. Expense will not be considered, however, in carrying out the plans Mr. Porter has in mind.”

Had this house survived, it would today be the most expensive home ever built in Irvington (in real dollar terms).  Its surviving rival is the Robert F. Lytle House, now the Portland's White House Bed & Breakfast.
