This closer view of the master bedroom fireplace provides a glimpse of the gorgeous hand-made tiles in the firebox surround and on the hearth -- and the built-in bench seat next to the fireplace.  Simple light fixtures were not unusual in historic times in second floor rooms as suggested by this original fixture.
